Do I need a suspension dyno?
No. You can enter force-velocity data from Restackor, a dyno sheet, or use the built-in defaults. If you have a dyno CSV, you can upload it directly.
Does it work with WP / KTM / Husqvarna suspension?
Yes. It works with any shim-stack damper — WP XACT, WP PDS, Showa SFF, Kayaba SSS, Ohlins TTX, Sachs, Marzocchi. Just enter your shim stack dimensions and valve seat diameter.
What about open cartridge vs closed cartridge forks?
Both supported. Select your cartridge type and the calculator handles gas pressure and cavitation analysis accordingly. It will warn you if cavitation risk is detected and recommend the correct gas charge.
How is this different from Restackor?
Shim Calculator is designed for workshop speed — enter stacks, get recommendations, print a build sheet. It includes suspension simulation, auto-tuning, and validates recommendations against track data before presenting them. Restackor is excellent for deep analysis; Shim Calculator is built for fast, practical revalving.
Can I use it for road race / street bikes?
Yes. Supported disciplines include motocross, supercross, enduro, desert racing, road race, street, adventure, and touring. Each has calibrated damping targets and available spring rate ranges.
